Title 45. Motion to Approve an Agreement between the City of Savannah and Warehouse Rentals for Fire and Rescue Services at 680 Bourne Avenue
Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description Recommend approval for entering into a Fire Protection Agreement with Warehouse Rentals to provide Fire Protection Services at 680 Bourne Avenue (Pin: 1-0916-01-001). This property is adjacent to existing parcels in Savannah Fire Rescue’s coverage area. This property is also located outside the City of Savannah in Unincorporated Chatham County. With no agreement from the City of Savannah to provide fire protection, the property will coordinate to continue receiving fire protection in accordance with the Chatham County Service Delivery strategy from the assigned Agency Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Pursuant to 1956 legislation, the City charges five mills to industrial areas located outside the city limits for fire protection services. The agreement will renew annually for 10 years charging the property owner five mills generating an estimated annual revenue of $68,000. This rate is consistent with historical charges for fire protection. The generated revenue will assist with operational costs for the Fire Department, and relief from the general fund.
