Title 7. Notification of an Emergency Procurement for the Repairs to the Power Feed for the President Street Facility Lab to All Electric (Local) in the Amount of $29,482.75 (Event No. 8310)
Strategic Priority Infrastructure
Description Notification of emergency purchase of repairs to the power feed for the President Street Facility Lab to All Electric in the amount of $29,482.75. The Water Reclamation Department conducted an underground conduit repair on January 8th to reinstate the plant’s intercom system. Unbeknownst to the operator, the power line was on top of the conduit that needed to be repaired, which was not shown on the site plans, resulting in the operator extracting the power line instead of the intercom conduit. The power line in need of repair supplies the Wastewater Lab’s main power. During the event, sample analysis was ongoing and power could not have been suspended without interference and loss of data. In order to safely repair the line and accommodate the power needs for the laboratory without interruption, the job was completed on Sunday, January 10th by All Electric. Other companies were contacted but were unable to meet the time frame in which the repairs were needed at a cost lower than what was provided by All Electric. In order to avoid future instances, there will be an update to the site piping plans and jobs will be coordinated so as not to interfere with sample analysis and main power sources. This repair needed to be completed immediately due to the threat of safety to City staff and equipment. (B) Indicates local, non-DBE business. Recommend approval
