Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description This is for the renewal of an annual contract with a modification to lease license plate reader cameras with Flock Safety (Atlanta, GA)(D) in an amount of $120,000.
The Police Department will use the camera system to deter and detect criminal activity by analyzing license plate information, as over 70% of all crimes involve vehicles. The vendor will be responsible for maintaining the current 16 leased cameras and the additional 32 included in this modification that are located throughout the City and for providing the Police Department with actual data from the Flock System.
The system is capable of capturing vehicles traveling up to 75 miles per hour from up to 75 feet away even in low light conditions. The cameras use solar and battery power while leveraging cellular communications for data and captured footage is stored in the cloud allowing for access across all digital platforms. This will allow police access to data from the system even when they are not physically at the given location.
This contract was originally approved by Council on June 11, 2020 in the amount of $32,000.
(D) Indicates non-local, non-DBE business.
