This amendment to the Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance updates the City's current policies on Sunday Sales to adopt state provisions which allow public stadiums, coliseums and auditoriums owned or controlled by a municipality or public authority to be exempt from laws requiring 50% of gross sales to be derived from prepared food sales. Per OCGA 3-3-7 (n), this exemption would apply only to those public owned entities with seating capacity greater than 2,500 people.

This exemption will benefit the Savannah Civic Center, as a municipally owned auditorium and stadium with more than 2,500 seats. As the Civic Center continues to increase bookings and events in an effort to become more financially self-sufficient, they desire to hold full concession sales, including alcohol, on all days of the week when events, appropriate for alcohol sales, are held.
