Recommend approval to award a contract for the repair of the driving range netting at Bacon Park Golf Course to South Cover Inc. in the amount of $125,377.00.

The netting will be used by the Buildings and Grounds Department to replace the deteriorated driving range netting at Bacon Park Golf Course. The netting is in immediate need of repair due to storm damages caused by hurricane force winds during Hurricane Matthew. The netting is a protective measure to keep golf balls from veering onto the adjacent roadway, Shorty Cooper Drive and the off-ramp of the Truman Parkway at Eisenhower Drive. The contract will include replacement of cabling, anchors, and hanging hardware, replacement of the badly torn netting, and bolstering of several poles.

There were two bids received. The apparent low bidder did not meet the requested specification regarding the breaking strength of the netting material.  This is a critical specification that ensures that the netting meets safety needs and will have increased longevity. Recommend awarding the contract to South Cover Inc.
