Title 7. Authorize the City Manager to Execute an Annual Contract to Lease a License Plate Reader Camera System with Flock Group, Inc. in the Amount of $32,000 (Event No.7713)
Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description Recommend approval to award an annual contract to lease a license plate reader camera system with Flock Group, Inc. in the amount of $32,000. The Savannah Police Department will use the camera system to deter and detect criminal activity by analyzing license plates. The vendor will be responsible to maintain the 16 leased cameras throughout the City and provide the police department with the actual data from the system. The Flock system can capture vehicles traveling up to 75 miles per hour from 75 feet away even in low light conditions. The cameras use solar and battery power while leveraging cellular communications for data and the captured footage is stored in the cloud allowing for access across all digital platforms. This will enable the police to be able to access the data from the system even when they are not physically at the given location. Per Section 2-4154 of the City’s purchasing ordinance, the City may purchase goods or services using a competitively bid contract from other governmental agencies. (Piggybacking) The contract used for this procurement is a Chatham County contract for Flock safety cameras (Contract # 782091134). It was competitively bid by Chatham County and awarded to Flock Group, Inc. This contract will expire June 11, 2021 and will have one renewal option available.
