June 10, 2021 City Council Regular Meeting
5. Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract to Procure 23 Variable Frequency Drives for the President Street Plant from GoForth Williamson, Inc. in the Amount of $94,718 (Event No. 8463). The Drives are Electrical Controllers for Pumps, Cooling Fans and Sludge Conveyor Belts within the President Street Plant which Treats 18 Million Gallons of Water per Day.
Strategic Priority

Recommend approval to procure 23 Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) from GoForth Williamson, Inc. in the amount of $94,718.00.

The VFDs will be used to control various motors, conveyors, fans and pumps associated with the solids handling dryer at the President Street Plant Facility. The equipment is necessary for the Water Reclamation Department to maintain compliance with state and federal discharge requirements in order to protect the health and welfare of the public.  Over 18 million gallons of wastewater are discharged on a daily basis.

Last year, Water Reclamation selected the Danfoss ALT Aqua VFD as the specific type of equipment the department will use.  The reason for the selection was because the equipment offers a life-time warranty that covers the cost of repairs and replacements, which results in a significant reduction of costs for the City.

This is a sole source because the City’s Public Works and Water Resources Department has standardized on this type of drive and it is only available from this source. Goforth Williamson is the only authorized supplier in this region for these materials and the only to offer a life-time warranty on the equipment.

Delivery: As needed. Terms: Net 30 days. The vendor is:
