Title Motion to Award Contract for Design Services for East Savannah Waterline Replacement to Hussey Gay Bell (Event No. 5085)
Description Recommend approval to procure design services from Hussey Gay Bell in the amount of $126,405.00. The East Savannah streets of Iowa, Auburn, Gable, Mosley, and Hanson were built in the 1950s and are in poor condition. The 2-inch-diameter galvanized steel waterlines serving the homes along these streets were also installed more than 60 years ago and are in need of replacement. The 2-inch waterlines will be replaced with 6-inch waterlines. A 6-inch waterline on Long Street will be included to loop the water system, and additional fire hydrants will also be included. The streets will be repaved after waterline installation. The project will improve water pressure, fire protection, and local access in the East Savannah neighborhood. The improvements will be designed for construction in two phases with the necessary bidding and construction overview services for the first phase included in the contract. The MWBE goal for this project was 6% (4% MBE and 2% WBE). The recommended proposer submitted MWBE participation of 6%, with 4% MBE using Griffin & Davis and 2% WBE using Clemmons Engineering.
