Title Motion to Award Contract Modification No. 1 for Sylvan Terrace to Savannah Construction and Preservation (Event No. 4724)
Description The Parks and Recreation Department has completed the construction of a walking trail around Sylvan Park. The walking trail, as installed, is currently a concrete sidewalk loop that is approximately 786 feet in length. The project also includes an American with Disabilities Act accessible parking lot with access to the trail. Other work involved with the project includes grading, clearing, erosion control, grassing, and future use conduit. This contract modification includes additional work that was needed to bridge the tree roots in the park, provide additional grading for the revised grades caused by the tree roots, and relocate additional bollards that were not in the original scope. Staff is currently looking into options to install a rubberized track next to the concrete track. The rubberized track would be similar to the track in Daffin Park. The contract was originally approved by Council on February 16, 2017, in the amount of $36,144.20. The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $49,382.20. The second low bid was submitted by Sandhill A.L.S. in the amount $42,116.00. The need for this modification could not have been foreseen by any of the bidders.
