Description Recommend approval of a final close-out modification for Highlands Fire Station to Dabbs-William General Contractors(B), in the amount of $153,959. The original contract was for providing a new fire station of 9,760 square feet located at 480 Highlands Boulevard. The building includes three apparatus bays, offices and restrooms with showers, sleeping quarters, common areas and other ancillary spaces. The project includes site work, utilities, parking lot and landscaping. The contract amendment will cover the following items: - Rerouting of existing sewer line (increase) - Upgrade of radio signal boost (BDA) system to Class A (increase) - Touchless restroom fixtures and accessories (increase) - Upgrade of paint for exterior steel (increase) - Replacement of unsuitable soil with sand and aggregate (increase) - Tree clearing for access to transformer and for detention pond maintenance access (increase) - General conditions for unavoidable delays (increase) - Modified landscaping along east façade for maintenance (increase) - Electrical provisions for future oxygen-filling station (increase) - Underground drainage of wooded area east of facility to protect parking lot (increase) - Repair of damaged existing water line (increase) - Electrical upgrade for overhead door motors (increase) - Certification of carbon-monoxide detection system required by City Fire Marshal (increase) - Guards for roof gutters for maintenance (increase) - Connection of radio signal system to fire alarm system for monitoring (increase) - Paint upgrade for traffic marking in right-of-way required by Traffic Engineering (increase) - Adjustment of payment for exhaust extraction system (credit) - Return of unused allowances for structural steel and steel reinforcement (credit) - Reimbursement of costs for third-party re-inspection and re-testing of noncompliant installations (credit) - Reimbursement of costs for certification inspections of concrete work required by the contract (credit) - Cancellation of specified parking lot subgrade stabilization due to alternate means implemented (credit) - Partial cancellation of work at temporary fire station site following its removal (credit) The contract modification will also approve a contract time extension of 127 calendar days for schedule impacts of the above changes and for unavoidable delays. The original contract was approved by City Council on September 26, 2019, in the amount of $3,046,000. The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification is $3,319,958.68.
