Recommend approval to authorize the City Manager to execute contract modification No. 5 with Thomas and Hutton Engineering for design services of Savannah Gardens Phase III Infrastructure in the amount of $180,750.
In 2009, City Council awarded a design contract to Thomas and Hutton Engineering for engineering design services and construction management overview of the Savannah Gardens Planned Unit Development (PUD) project. The design for the project was completed for three phases and the construction of Phases I and II were completed. The phase III plans were completed during the original design however the scope of Phase III has changed.
This amendment will allow for the redesign of the Phase III infrastructure to include the restoration of Wyoming Street, to accommodate the future Mercy Housing VI Georgia Department of Community Affairs Low Income Housing Tax Credit funded multifamily development, approximately thirteen (13) single family lots facing Long Avenue and approximately four (4) lots facing Bolling Street. In addition the design will incorporate a streetscape element along Gwinnet Street which will include sidewalk and pedestrian enhancements as well as landscape and hardscapes elements to improve the overall experience of the corridor entering east Savannah and Savannah Gardens.
The fee also includes updated permitting, surveying, and plat submittals for the project. The cost of bid assistance and construction observation, and construction administration were also included. Finally, the fee includes the closeout and record drawings for the project.
The original contract was approved by Council on June 18, 2009 in the amount of $488.499. The total amount of this contract to date, including this amendment, is $982,369.
