Description

For over 40 years, the M.L. King Association has organized the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade in Savannah, honoring Dr. King’s enduring legacy and celebrating local Civil Rights activists and pioneers. As in previous years, the Mayor and Aldermen will join in the parade festivities. This year, Ms. Vaughnette Goode-Walker and Mr. Robert Jordan will serve as Parade Marshals, while Mrs. Betty Ellington will be recognized as a Civil Rights Activist, and Mr. MiQuan Green will be honored as a Trail Blazer.

To commemorate Dr. King’s contributions, the Association hosts a series of events from January through April. On January 19, a Memorial Worship Service will take place at St. Phillip Monumental A.M.E. Church on Barnard and Jefferson Streets. The parade itself will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10 a.m. In addition, a Gospel Fest will be held at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church on M.L. King Blvd., and the annual Unity Luncheon is scheduled for March.

The Association would like to acknowledge City employees Ms. Judee Jones and Mr. Michael Chaney for their dedication in organizing these meaningful community events.

The public is encouraged to join in the Parade and participate in the numerous activities honoring Dr. King.

The Mayor and Aldermen will present the 2025 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade Permit to the M.L. King Association.
