This is a notification of an emergency purchase for switchgear control improvements services with Current Edge Solutions, LLC in an amount not to exceed $566,473.

An emergency purchase for switchgear control upgrade at the DeRenne Stormwater Pump Station was approved by the City Manager at Storm Water Management's request. The existing generator and control systems are outdated, unreliable, and not aligned with current technology, making maintenance and integration increasingly difficult and requiring frequent maintenance to remain functional. Upgrading the equipment will enhance system reliability, improve operator safety, and ensure uninterrupted operation during power outages, which is critical for stormwater management during major weather events.

The pump station has served the community for decades, and its electrical components have exceeded their expected service life. This project aligns with the City’s goals of maintaining essential infrastructure, protecting public safety, and improving flood resilience. It also reflects the City’s broader commitment to investing in sustainable, reliable systems that safeguard residents and property. Unintended consequences may be a heightened risk of equipment failure and potentially compromise pumping capacity during critical storm events. The proposed upgrade is the most prudent and strategically responsible course of action.
