Description

This contract is for the Casey Canal Drainage Improvements partial Phase 2-1 (drainage system improvements along 54th Street between Atlantic Street and Harmon Street) and full Phase 2-2 with The Industrial Company (TIC) in an amount not to exceed $40,276,019. The Casey South drainage basin has been experiencing recurring flooding issues in the Ardmore/Gould Estates/Olin Heights and Ardsley Park areas due to inadequate drainage pipe capacities. The Stormwater Management Division has decided to strategically approach project implementation with consideration given to minimizing the impact on resident’s daily lives. The proposed improvements associated with this project are targeted specifically to 56th and 57th streets, from Atlantic Street to Harmon Street, and 54th Street from Atlantic to Harmon. The Phase 2-1 project scope was reduced from Abercorn Street to Harmon Street to Atlantic Street to Harmon Street due to available funding challenges. The cost difference between the two firms is $9,800,003.

Additionally, this project will upsize/replace the existing lead-jointed water mains in the project area to comply with upcoming regulatory compliance requirements affecting the City Drinking Water System, as well as to enhance flow and water pressure for the neighborhood. Some project quantities were reduced, which lowered the overall cost. The bid was advertised, opened, and reviewed. Delivery: As needed. Terms: Net 30 days.
