Title 4. A Proclamation Declaring February 15, 2024, as the Annual Arbor and Tree Planting Day in the City of Savannah.
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description The City will celebrate Arbor Day with tree planting at the AB Williams Elementary School located at 1150 Wheaton Street, Savannah. Members of City Council, Park & Tree Commission members, and City Urban Forestry staff, will join with the AB Williams Elementary School teachers and students for an Arbor Day celebration and tree planting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15th. The Arbor Day program will include a presentation of the City’s Arbor Day Proclamation. The City of Savannah has been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation since 1985 in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. This is in recognition of the City meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of a minimum of $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
