Title 15. Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract for Cancer Benefit Coverage for City Fire Fighters with Georgia Municipal Association in the Amount of $40,000 (Event No.5819)
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description Recommend approval to renew a contract for cancer benefit coverage for City firefighters from Georgia Municipal Association in the amount of $40,000. Recently enacted House Bill 146 requires that all legally-organized fire departments in Georgia provide certain cancer benefits to their firefighters effective January 1, 2018. Because this law is new, the Georgia Municipal Association has developed a solution for Georgia cities that need this coverage, which provides financial protection to firefighters and their families in the event they contract cancer. This is a sole source because the Georgia Municipal Association is the only entity offering the program at this time. S.S. Georgia Municipal Association (Atlanta, GA)(H) $40,000 (H) Indicates non-local, not-for-profit business.
