Title
60. Authorize City Manager to Declare Surplus and Available for Sale City-owned Real Property Located at Orchard St (PIN: 20089 22001) – Petition #190467
Strategic Priority
Neighborhood Revitalization
Description

Tonya Ferguson, owner of 503 Orchard St, has petitioned to declare surplus and available for sale City-owned real property located on Orchard St (PIN 20089 22001). The City-owned parcel is adjacent her home in the Jackson Park neighborhood and is an unbuildable, remnant parcel. Georgia Code 36-37-6 provides authorization for municipalities to “sell and convey parcels of narrow strips of land so shaped or so small as to be incapable of being used independently as zoned under applicable subdivision or other development ordinances” (i.e.: remnant parcels)

The property is a 10’ wide by 70’ deep vacant residential lot, and according to the 2019 Chatham County Board of Assessors, assessed value is $4,800.

The petition has been reviewed by Development Services, Public Works and Water Resources, Planning and Urban Design, Greenscapes, and Real Estate Services. If this matter is approved, staff will convey City-owned parcel at 2019 Chatham County Assessed Value.

Further request authorization for the City Manager to execute quitclaim deed and any associated closing documents.
