Description This ordinance will authorize the use of traffic enforcement safety devices in school zones. The protection of children and prevention of motor vehicle related deaths, injuries, and property damage is of the upmost importance to the City Council. Excessive speeding and disregard of traffic control devices in school zones has increased the number of traffic related injuries and deaths in Georgia. Impact of this ordinance will be reduction in injuries to children in school zones caused by speeding vehicles. This ordinance will move towards city goals of public safety and residents feeling safe in their neighborhoods. Council will find that this ordinance addressing excessive speeding in school zones is in the best interests of the health and general welfare of the City, its residents and general public. This ordinance will allow traffic officers to focus more efficiently and effectively on other high risk traffic locations throughout the city. | |
