The work session and City Manager’s briefing was held at 12:05 p.m. Mayor Johnson recognized Alderman Purtee to offer an invocation.

Workshop Agenda Items  (Inclusionary Zoning)
1. Planning for St. Patrick's Day

Mayor Johnson shared information relating to the St. Patrick's Day festivities.  The pandemic started in early 2020, for the safety of residents, the City postponed the St. Patrick's Day Parade and festivities.  The City partners have met and made recommendations for this year's parade and festivities.  Mayor Johnson requested City Manager Melder to introduce Susan Broker, Director, Office of Special Events, Film & Tourism to provide the PowerPoint presentation which provides detailed information on this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade and festivities.

Following the presentation, there was discussions and questions from Mayor and Council relating to the presentation and suggestions for improvement.  All questions were answered satisfactorily by Ms. Broker and City Manager Melder.

The Presentation is on file in the Clerk of Council's office. 

 

2. Housing Affordability Strategies (Inclusionary Zoning, NewZo 2.0, Community Benefits, Impact Fees)

City Manager Melder shared that Mayor and Council, and staff members visited the City of Atlanta last week for information and a presentation on Inclusionary Zoning.   He introduced Bridget Lidy, Senior Director, Planning, Zoning and Urban Design for the presentation on recommendations for Savannah.  Ms. Lidy introduced Marcus Lotson, MPC Representative, who assisted with NewZo Ordinance and was available for any questions.  NewZo, Inclusionary Zoning and Accessory Dwelling Units were discussed in detail during the presentation.

Following the presentation, there was discussions as it relates to the information received in Atlanta and the recommendations for Savannah.
