Description

This contract is for the selective interior demolition of the Gamble Building with Johnson-Laux Construction in the amount of $960,833. The full scope of the project focuses on the interior renovation of the building, and the selective demolition contract is the first step in preparing the building’s interior for new construction.  The selective demolition will aim to remove all non-historic materials, plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment at the discretion of the design team. This includes the removal of asbestos-containing materials by a specialized abatement subcontractor. Having the interior of the building gutted will help the design team determine the final new construction plans. Work should begin in January 2023 and be complete in July 2023. We expect to put the full renovation construction contract out to bid in early fall 2023.

The State of Georgia’s job order contract will be used to perform this project to meet time constraints and City ordinance requirements. The State of Georgia’s job order contract is considered a convenience contract that is available for use by all State, City, and County public entities. The purpose of this contract is to provide multi-traded general construction services to accomplish small to medium-sized projects for repair, alteration, modernization, rehabilitation, renovation, and minor new construction to infrastructure, buildings, structures, or other real property. The State of Georgia used a competitive bidding procedure to select contractors to perform these services for this project.
