Title 19. Motion to Authorize the City Manager to Procure 26 Mobile Fingerprint Scanners from Data Works Plus in the Amount of $80,606 (Event No. 7545)
Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description Recommend approval to procure 26 fingerprint scanners from Data Works Plus in the amount of $80,606. The scanners being purchased will be used by the Savannah Police Department (SPD) to assist the Department in a variety of operations including suspect identification, road-side stops, driver’s license matching, crime scene investigations, and criminal warrant service. The scanners are certified by the FBI and contain law enforcement sensitive fingerprint sensors and smartphone transmission capabilities, which allow for transmittal of prints and images over a secure internet connection to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). They will be utilized by SPD officers in the field, improving operational efficiency, and affording officers immediate access to the GBI’s database, which contains information unavailable elsewhere. Results are returned nearly instantaneously. This is a sole source because these scanners are certified by the FBI and are the only scanners with the exclusive ability to connect to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations database.
