Title Motion to Approve Contract with Terracon Consultants, Inc. for Special Inspections, Material Testing, and Quality Control for the Jumbo General Aviation, Federal Inspection Service Facility. | |
Description The Savannah Airport Commission recommends approval of a contract with Terracon Consultants, Inc., in the amount of $31,099.90 for special inspections, material testing, and quality control of the Jumbo General Aviation, Federal Inspection Service Facility. In order to abide by local code requirements, the Jumbo General Aviation, Federal Inspection Service Facility project is required to have certain special inspections done by an independent agency. These inspections are related directly to the building and are done by firms qualified to perform this work. They include, but are not limited to, field inspections of welding, concrete, structural steel, foundation, and other tasks per Chapter 17 of the International Building code. In addition, since the project is receiving federal funds, the owner is obligated under FAA guidelines to provide quality assurance testing on those portions of the project where these test are required. The majority of these tests will be performed on the ramp and adjoining concrete and asphalt paved areas. Terracon Consultants, Inc. was the low bidder and has done several projects for the Airport in the past. Bidders were: L.B. (D) Terracon Consultants, Inc.
