The Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Command Team will present the Mayor and Council with a wreath in support of National Wreaths Across America Day.  On December 17, 2022, volunteers across the country coordinated wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 1,400 additional locations, including Fort Stewart, Georgia. 

The local Wreaths for Warriors Walk organization is a non-profit that was founded in 2007. The organization's mission is to "remember and honor the soldiers memorialized on Warriors Walk who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families." Through generous community support, the organization is able to fulfill its mission and continue to remember, honor, and teach about the sacrifices of 3rd Infantry Division Soldiers. Freedom comes at a great cost to the families of the fallen men and women, who have given their lives in support of goals and objectives of the Army and United States. This gesture is to also remind our community of the sacrifices our service members make daily to protect our nation and to further strengthen the bonds of support between our communities.
