Description
Lieutenant Colonel Dave Escobar and Command Sergeant Major Tremayne Robbins will present the Mayor and Aldermen a wreath in support of National Wreaths Across America Day.
On December 14, 2019, volunteers across the country will coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 1,400 additional locations, including Fort Stewart, Georgia. The local Wreaths for Warriors Walk organization is a non-profit that was founded in 2007. The organization's mission is to "Remember and honor the soldiers memorialized on Warriors Walk who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan, and their families."
Through generous community support, the organization is able to fulfill its mission and continue to remember, honor, and teach about the sacrifices of 3rd Infantry Division Soldiers. Freedom comes at a great cost to the families of the fallen men and women, who have given their lives in support of goals and objectives of the Army and United States. Each of the 469 trees honor a soldier assigned or attached to the 3rd Infantry Division who died as a result of service in Iraq or Afghanistan.
