A resolution authorizing the City of Savannah to partner with Chatham County, the Savannah Economic Development Authority (SEDA), and the Community Housing Services Agency, Inc. (CHSA) to establish and provide first year administration and operating support for the new “Housing United” countywide affordable and workforce housing initiative. The City will provide CHSA with $151,000 in first year administrative funding while the County and SEDA will provide CHSA with $191,000 each in first year administrative funding. Housing United is a positive outgrowth of the Housing Savannah Action Plan’s (HSAP) call to significantly increase and expand contributions and investments in affordable and workforce housing, including the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF). All parties recognize the need to expand affordable and workforce housing funding and options countywide. The parties also recognize the benefits of capitalizing and expanding upon CHSA’s 36 years of successful experience in affordable and workforce housing fund raising, lending, and development.
