Description

The City of Savannah proudly recognizes the successful completion of the 12-week Bridge to Success Student Internship Program by 14 students from Savannah State University, Georgia Southern University, Savannah Technical College, and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). As part of the City’s Hire Savannah initiative, this program provides structured, hands-on experiences that allow students to explore municipal government operations while gaining practical skills aligned with their areas of study.

 

During the program, interns made meaningful contributions across multiple City departments, including:

· Police

· Fire

· Human Resources

· Purchasing

· Municipal Archives

· Planning & Urban Design

· Capital Projects

· Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Office

· Economic Development

· Housing Services

· IT

· Planning & Engineering

· City Manager’s Office

· Chief Operating Officer’s Office

 

Recommendation: Recognize and celebrate the successful completion of the 12-week internship program by students. Acknowledge the contributions of program participants and participating City departments and encourage continued engagement and future participation to strengthen the pipeline of local, diverse talent.

 

Program Details & Importance: The first cohort of the Bridge to Success Internship Program ran from September 2025 through November 2025, providing structured, practical experiences for 14 interns across multiple City departments. Recognition of the interns at this time highlights their accomplishments, celebrates their contributions to City operations, and reinforces Savannah’s commitment to:

· Being a high-performing organization

· Building stronger community partnerships

· Improving transparency and service delivery

 

Why this matters: This program equips students with real-world professional experience, enhances their skills, and cultivates interest in future employment with the City of Savannah. Acknowledging their achievements demonstrates the City’s commitment to workforce development, supports departmental operations, and fosters long-term relationships with local educational institutions and emerging talent.
