Recommend approval of contract with Rapiscan Inc. in the amount of $25,475.00 to procure security equipment. The Rapiscan security equipment is used by Airport security to conduct employee screening at multiple entrances to the secured area. This equipment is unique as both the walk-through metal detectors (WTMD) and x-ray units are portable, providing the airport with the ability to relocate the screening equipment to numerous entrances. 

Staff is recommending the purchase of an additional WTMD and x-ray unit to increase employee screening capabilities and mitigate insider threat. This is a sole source purchase as it involves adding equipment to an existing system. Rapiscan is the provider of the current screening equipment which is under warranty.
