Motion to Approve Sole Source Procurement of Playground Equipment for Edgemere/Sackville Neighborhood from Game Time (Event No. 5449)

Recommend approval to procure playground equipment and installation services from Game Time in the amount of $48,711.58.  The Edgemere/Sackville neighborhood, located in District 3, has been selected as the City's first Savannah Shines targeted community. In coordination with the Savannah Shines blight elimination initiatives, the Parks and Recreation Services Department plans to build a park in the Edgemere/Sackville neighborhood. This park will include playground equipment and provide recreational opportunities for children and adults alike. When completed, the park/playground will serve as a symbol of neighborhood pride that will encourage residents to congregate and build community relationships that will bolster neighborhood improvement efforts.

This equipment is being purchased through a cooperative bid contract. The method of procurement used for this purchase was a request for proposal issued by Charlotte-Mecklenburg County, NC, as part of the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance. Cooperative purchasing is authorized as an appropriate procurement method in Division 10 Section 4-4152 of the City of Savannah's Purchasing Ordinance.
