August 3, 2017 City Council Regular Meeting
Title
Motion to Adopt a Resolution Accepting Additional Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) Funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Authorizing the Increase of Adopted Funding Allocations to Inner City Night Shelter and Family Promise of Greater Savannah
Description

Resolution to accept a supplemental allocation to the 2017 Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) award of $639,157 made available by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development through a formula allocation to assist communities who lost significant capacity to serve the homeless in recent years.

These funds can be used to support emergency shelters; street outreaches; Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS); and, homeless prevention programs. The supplemental award increases the City’s total FY 2017 ESG allocation from $189,647 to $823,801. The funds will be distributed to homeless service agencies in the 2017 One Year Action Plan adopted by City Council on November 10, 2016. The distribution is based on statutory spending caps and the agency’s ability to provide the required matching dollars for the homeless programs. Request for proposals will be issued for the remaining shelter and homeless prevention funds.
