Recommend approval of Contract Modification No. 1 for drug and substance abuse education to Coslick Recovery Group, LLC in the amount of $16,000.00. This service is part of the YouthBuild Savannah Grant that is administered by WorkSource Coastal.

The contract was originally approved by City Council on February 4, 2016 in the amount of $23,690.00, not to exceed $25,160.00, as budgeted in the YouthBuild Savannah Grant. The original contract was for drug and substance abuse education, drug tests screening, individual assessments, guidance counseling, performance evaluations, and staff workshop sessions. The curriculum includes topics such as coping with stress, anger management, impact of drugs on family, impact of mental health on daily living, and maintaining a drug free status. This program is specifically designed for disadvantaged youth, ages 16 to 24, which is the target population of YouthBuild Savannah.

This contract modification is a result of a higher than anticipated number of individual counseling and group sessions and will allow for trainees to continue to receive services through the end of the contract period, December 30, 2017. The increase in the contract amount will be covered by savings in the participant wages line item of the budget. The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $41,160.00.
