Recommend approval to award a contract to Metalcrafts for roof replacement and building waterproofing at the River Street Visitor Center in the amount of $185,000.00.

Age and continued deterioration have compromised the existing roof and sealed joints around windows, between building materials, and mortar joints of the concrete block facade. Moisture penetration and water intrusion is taking place at these points causing damage to the building’s interior and associated finishes. This contract will provide for a new roof, new seals, and a new elastomeric coating over the spit faced concrete block. The new roof and sealed exterior will provide a building that is protected against moisture and water penetration problems.

Several companies attended the mandatory pre-bid meeting and one bid was received. 

The MWBE goal for this project was 17% (11% MBE, 6% WBE). The recommended bidder submitted participation in the amount of 39.57%. MBE participation will be in the amount of 22.16% using Pioneer Construction. WBE participation will be in the amount of 17.41% using Steel Erectors.
