Description

Recommend approval to authorize the City Manager to procure one front loader truck in the amount of $268,262.92 from WasteBuilt c/o New Way. Contract #112014-NWY on the Sourcewell (formerly National Joint Powers Alliance) purchasing cooperation will be used for this procurement.  New Way is the contracted vendor and has maintained this contract for the past five years.

The company utilizes authorized dealers to provide this type of specialty equipment to meet departments’ needs at less than fair market value.  WasteBuilt is an authorized dealer, and the vendor has provided this specialty equipment to the City of Savannah for the last several years.  The front loader refuse truck will be utilized by the Sanitation Department to replace Unit 1708 that has reached the end of its useful life cycle, and is no longer cost effective to maintain.

As a member of Sourcewell and per Section 2-4154 of the City’s Purchasing Ordinance, staff recommends procuring the front loader truck from WasteBuilt c/o New Way.
