Description
The internship program directly supports service delivery and our Savannah GPS Strategic Plan, Goal 6, Always be a High-Performing Government, by providing departments with additional support while preparing a future workforce aligned with city values and service expectations. The Internship Program will assist in building a talented workforce and produce regional partnerships with our local colleges while connecting with our community.
The Bridge to Success Internship program will provide 25 structured internships annually (7–8 students per semester) across various departments, offering both paid ($18/hr.) and unpaid opportunities, and will expose vocational and college students to multiple aspects of municipal government operations. The Internship cohorts, while performing meaningful tasks, will gain practical work experience related to their area of study. The program will also serve to interest interns in future career opportunities with the City of Savannah. The college and university MOUs formalize collaboration to recruit, prepare, and support student interns, creating a sustainable pipeline for local, and diverse talent.
Council-approved paid internships for 25 annual internships as a part of the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget. Intern selection will occur each academic semester (Spring, Summer, Fall) through the Internship Review and Selection Committee, with placements across multiple city departments.
