Description
WHEREAS: Tammi Celeste Brown, Chatham County Nurse Manager for the Chatham County Health Department of the Coastal Health District, was the first person to be vaccinated for COVID-19 in Chatham County; and
WHEREAS: As a frontline health care hero, Ms. Brown organized and put into action multiple COVID-19 testing sites in Chatham County; and
WHEREAS: Tammi Brown worked with local churches, schools, and businesses to ensure that everyone in Chatham County had access to the annual flu vaccine and implemented the first drive through flu clinic; and
WHEREAS: Tammi Brown served as the lead nurse for Chatham County Hurricane Registry, coordinating with Chatham County Emergency Management and multiple community partners; and
WHEREAS: Tammi Brown led the Chatham County Health Department through the COVID-19 pandemic ensuring all clinics kept running efficiently; and
WHEREAS: During Ms. Brown’s tenure, the Midtown Clinic re-opened increasing accessibility for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and opening a PrEP clinic, a way for people who don’t have HIV but who are at very high risk of getting it to prevent HIV infection by taking a pill every day; and
WHEREAS: The City of Savannah recognizes the numerous accomplishments of Tammi Celeste Brown and, most importantly, her service to Savannah-Chatham County during a global pandemic.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Van R. Johnson, II, Mayor of the City of Savannah, Georgia, do hereby proclaim August 26, 2021 as:
“TAMMI CELESTE BROWN DAY”
in Savannah and salute her for the role she played throughout the global pandemic to promote the health and well-being of the citizens of the City of Savannah and Chatham County, Georgia.
