Title 27. Approval to Grant Additional Easement to Georgia Power at 13710 Coffee Bluff Road
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description Georgia Power Corporation (GPC) has a high-power transmission line that traverses across City-owned real property located at 13710 Coffee Bluff Road (PIN 20687 0203). This is a large site of mostly marsh and wetlands, but also includes a small area of uplands developed with the Coffee Bluff Fire Station (#10). GPC currently has a 100-foot wide easement and is seeking to expand that easement to 200-feet to comply with current recommended safety and transmission standards in case the wires are blown-off their support poles during storms with strong winds. The proposed easement crosses marsh at the southeast portion of the property and runs from a GPC Sub-station along Coffee Bluff road across the Vernon River to the Montgomery area. Public Works and Water Resources, Development Services, Greenscapes, and Real Estate Services have reviewed the request. GPC has offered appraised value of $5,350 to acquire the additional easement rights. Recommend approval to grant additional easement area to GPC upon payment of the appraised value of $5,350.
