14. Motion to Approve Encroachments at 615 Montgomery Street (Petition #180222).

Description

Petitioner is seeking encroachments associated with the new construction of a four-story, 14,000-square-foot apartment building to be constructed at 615 Montgomery Street to be known as “Bowery II.” Requested encroachments include stoops, a grand entrance, two canopies, foundation encroachments, and drainage pipes and structures. A complete description of these encroachments is provided as an attachment. The proposed new construction and encroachment request have been issued a Certificate of Appropriateness by the Metropolitan Planning Commission.

The petition has been reviewed by Development Services, Public Works and Water Resources, Greenscapes, Savannah Police, Savannah Fire, Sanitation, and by Real Estate Services, and the following conditions are recommended if approved:

  1. The petition must meet all the requirements of the COA granted by the Historic Review Board.
  2. City is held harmless for maintenance and liability of the proposed encroachments
  3. The design of all encroachments must meet all City standards.
  4. A building permit is required for the proposed stoops, ADA ramps, steps, foundations and canopies.
  5. Any modifications to the sidewalk must meet all ADA and City Construction Standards.
