OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA

The work session and City Manager’s briefing was held at 11:10 a.m., in Council Chambers.  Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order.  Alderman Purtee offered a prayer.  

PRESENT:  

Mayor Van R. Johnson, II, Presiding

Alderwoman Carolyn H. Bell, At-Large, Post 1

Alderwoman Bernetta B. Lanier, District 1

Alderman Detric Leggett, District  2

Alderwoman Linda Wilder-Bryan, District 3 - Vice Chair

Alderman Nick Palumbo, District 4 - Chairman

Alderwoman Dr. Estella Edwards Shabazz, District 5 - Mayor Pro Tem

Alderman Kurtis Purtee, District 6

ABSENT:

Alderwoman Alicia Miller Blakely, At-Large, Post 2

ALSO, PRESENT:

City Manager Jay Melder

Assistant City Manager Taffanye Young

City Attorney Bates Lovett 

Clerk of Council Mark Massey

Deputy Clerk of Council Gwendolyn Jones

There was no City Manager's Update.

Mayor Johnson welcomed everyone back to City Hall and to the renovated Media Room.

City Manager Melder recognized several Aldermen/Alderwomen by presenting them with their 5 Years of Service pin.

Mayor Johnson indicated that an executive session regarding personnel, litigation, and real estate was needed, so he asked for a motion.

Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Shabazz moved to close the work session and enter into a closed executive session regarding personnel, litigation, and real estate, seconded by Ald. Palumbo.  The motion passed unanimously, 5-0-0.  Ald. Miller Blakely, Ald. Lanier, Ald. Leggett, and Ald. Wilder-Bryan were absent during the vote.

Mayor Johnson recessed the work session for the executive session to be held on the 3^rd Floor in the City Attorney’s conference room at 11:07 a.m.  No action was taken.

Ald. Palumbo moved to end the executive session/work session, seconded by Ald. Leggett. The motion passed unanimously, 8-0-0. Ald. Miller Blakely was absent.

Mayor Johnson adjourned the workshop and executive session at 1:25 p.m.
