APRIL 9, 2026 - 10:00 a.m. - SPECIAL CALLED MEETING - MOBILE WORKSHOP CITY GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN SAVANNAH, GEORGIA The special meeting was held at 10:04 a.m., aboard a Chatham Area Transit electric bus. Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Shabazz, called the meeting to order, then recognized Ald. Carolyn H. Bell to offer a prayer.

City Manager Melder recognized Chatham Area Transit's Chairman Detric Leggett and CEO Stephanie Cutter for providing the transit bus for the mobile tour. He then gave an overview of the purpose of the mobile workshop while referencing the handouts provided to council. After the City Manager's presentation, Planning, Zoning & Urban Design Sr. Director Bridget Lidy and her staff, Assistant Director Edward Morrow, Preservation Officer Jessica Baldwin, and Planning Manager John Anagnost faciliated the tour. The Tour Stops included the following:
Returned to City Hall There were three hard stops, along the tour, to which council members exited the tour bus and interacted with presenters at two stops. The first stop was with Brianna Paxton at 1109 E. 32nd Street. Ms. Paxton presented details about the duplex that was still under construction and the benefits of the Affordable Housing Overlay District. The second hard stop was at 131 & 135 Fair Street. This location consisted of two new homes, each having an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). At both locations council members were able to tour the properties and make further inquiries. The third stop occurred at the Southwest Library in order to take a restroom break where snacks and water were provided.
