Motion to Approve Modification No. 2 to the PY2016 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Year-Round Contract to Administer the Jobs for Georgia Graduates Out-of-School Program
WorkSource Coastal is requesting a second modification to the PY2016 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Year Round existing contract agreement, approved by Council on June 23, 2016. This modification, totaling $62,488.00, will provide additional funding to administer the PY2016 WIOA Jobs for Georgia Graduates (JGG) Out-of-School Program.
The JGG Out-of-School (OOS) program is designed to serve young people ages 16-24 who have left the traditional school system and are interested in completing requirements for a high school diploma or attaining a GED. The primary mission of this JGG Model program is to recover dropouts and to provide an array of counseling, mentorship, employability, technical skills development, professional association, job development, and job placement services that will result in either a quality job leading to a career after graduation and/or enrollment in a postsecondary education and training program.
Currently, there are no JGG Out-of-School programs operating in Georgia. The Coastal Workforce Development Board has contacted the Georgia Department of Labor and has confirmed its willingness to partner, and for Coastal Workforce to be the first agency in Georgia to develop and implement a JGG Out-of-School Program.
Coastal Workforce will use this grant awarded through the Governor’s Reserve funds to offer JGG Out-Of-School Programming in four counties within the Coastal Region: Chatham (Savannah Impact Program), Glynn County (WorkSource Coastal Job Center), Liberty County (WorkSource Coastal Job Center) and Bulloch County (Ogeechee Technical College), totaling $62,488.00, as approved by Coastal Workforce Development Board on February 28, 2017.
