The Executive Director of the Savannah/Chatham Court Appointed Special Advocates, Inc. program, Kate Blair, will appear to accept a proclamation from Mayor Pro Tem Carol Bell recognizing April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. In her role as the Board President for the Coastal Children's Advocacy Center, Ms. Blair, recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect.
During the month of April and throughout the year, communities are encouraged to increase awareness and provide education and support to families through resources and strategies to prevent child abuse and neglect. The mission of CASA is to provide training and supervision to volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children who are under the jurisdiction of the Chatham County Juvenile Court. The CASA program takes a holistic approach of the child’s psychological, physical, and educational needs and well-being to advocate for permanency in the child’s life.
