The City of Savannah has received a “Statement of Grant Award” through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) for the Disaster Recovery Dislocated Worker Grant. This funding will provide temporary employment opportunities to assist with recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene. It will also be used to strengthen service delivery by ensuring WIOA-eligible dislocated workers—including those who have been laid off and military spouses—have access to employment and comprehensive training programs that prepare them for high-demand careers. The grant period is from December 12, 2025 through August 8, 2026.

The WorkSource Coastal Hurricane Debby Grant will serve Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Screven counties. 

The allocation is as follows:

Pursuant to the WorkSource Coastal Consortium Agreement, the City of Savannah serves as the fiduciary agent for the ten-county region and, as such, City Council approval and authorization for the City Manager to receive grant funding and enter into grant administration agreements is necessary in accordance with the City of Savannah's procurement policies and procedures.
