Title 7. Authorize the City Manager to Execute Two License Agreements With Norfolk Southern Corporation to Use Railroad Right of Way for Water Main Relocation in the Amount of $74,000 (Event No. 8052)
Strategic Priority Infrastructure
Description Authorize City Manager to enter into two License Agreements with Norfolk Southern Corporation on behalf of The Mayor and Aldermen that will allow the City of Savannah’s 48” I&D water main to be relocated under Norfolk Southern rail lines in two locations. The Georgia DOT’s Brampton Road Connector project includes new roadways and rail lines to serve the Georgia Ports Authority Savannah Terminal. These new roads/railroads will cross the existing City of Savannah 48” I&D water main in two places. Thus, two sections of the 48” main will be relocated and placed within steel casings to protect them from rail and truck traffic. Council approved the original agreement for engineering services for this project at the November 21, 2017 meeting. This is a sole Source as Norfolk Southern Corporation is the owner of the railway and the only vendor that can grant access.
