On March 28, 2019 the City of Savannah’s Greenscapes Division was presented the Board of Directors Award from the Tourism Leadership Council. This was in recognition of all the hard work done by staff in making the Historic District as clean and beautiful as it is. Not only do we have an amazing group of parks maintenance personnel tending to the beautifully landscaped parks and squares Monday through Friday we also have a cleanliness team made up of dedicated employees operating seven days a week performing litter removal and trash receptacle emptying within the public rights of way north of Liberty Street. This is not an annual award but one given only when the Board feels the occasion arises. To quote an email I received after the award banquet from Michael Owens, “I just wanted to send you over a note and say THANK YOU to you and your team. I really appreciated that you were able to bring so many of your fine team to join us at the Tourism Awards Dinner. All of us truly appreciate what you and your team does to make our city beautiful and inviting!”
