The results are in!  Leopold’s Ice Cream and Live Oak Public Libraries recently asked students in Chatham, Liberty and Effingham counties to submit poems on the theme, 100 Years of Leopold’s Ice Cream, and the results were amazing.  Over 250 poems were received and after much careful consideration, 12 winners have been chosen.  Stratton Leopold, of Leopold’s Ice Cream, said of the challenge, “The talent from our local school children seems to get better and better each year.  This year’s topic was very close to my heart as we prepare to celebrate 100 years of Leopold’s Ice Cream in Savannah.  I know that my father would be honored by all of the birthday wishes we received from these students.  I am so proud of our amazing young people!”  Each of the first-place winners will receive an ice cream party for their class, 2^nd and 3^rd place finalists will each receive a special gift certificate for Leopold’s Ice Cream. And the winners are:

Leopold’s Ice Cream and Live Oak Public Libraries have partnered again to host the 9th Annual Leopold’s Ice Cream Creative Writing Challenge. As Leopold’s Ice Cream prepares to celebrate a century of ice cream in Savannah during 2019, students were encouraged to creatively express their thoughts on this year’s theme, “100 Years of Leopold’s Ice Cream!”, through poetry.  Stratton & Mary Leopold, longtime advocates of literacy and fostering creative energy in our youth, have hosted this annual competition since 2011. The contest has proven to be a huge success with hundreds of entries each year.  The challenge was open to all students (public, private and homeschool) in Chatham, Effingham and Liberty Counties.

The winners and finalists have been invited to read their poems at the Savannah City Council Meeting on Thursday, March 14th.
