Southern Telecom, Inc. (Petitioner) has requested an easement over/across a portion of City-owned property located at 1010 Carl Griffin Drive (PIN 2-0873 -01-008). The parent tract totals 152.3 acres and is a former landfill parcel. The requested 3.4 acre easement is for the purposes of running telecommunication lines and equipment. The proposed easement is within an existing utility easement already granted to Georgia Power.  Southern Telecom is owned by the same parent company that owns Georgia Power.

An appraisal was performed that reports Fair Market Value at $25,000.00. Southern Telecom, Inc. has agreed to pay this cost in exchange for the easement. The easement document has been reviewed by the Assistant City Attorney’s office, Sanitation, and by Real Estate Services.
