Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Workshop of the City Council was held at 1:30 p.m., via Zoom video communications. Mayor Johnson recognized Alderman Leggett to offer the invocation.

Workshop Agenda Items

1. COVID-19 Update

Mayor Johnson introduced Dr. Lawton Davis, Health Director of the Coastal Health District for an update on COVID-19 in the coastal district.

Dr. Davis presented local updates with a Power Point presentation showing the Chatham County data as it relates to age, gender, race, transmission index, hospitalizations, deaths and types of virus. The FDA will meet on September 17th for consideration of a booster vaccine. If and when the booster vaccine is officially released for distribution, Dr. Davis discussed which individuals will be recommended for the booster vaccine and the long-term advantages/effects.

There followed a question and discussion session from Council which involved Dr. Davis' input on regular temper checks and when/how to get the booster vaccine if approved.

Mayor Johnson thanked Dr. Davis for all the shared information and reinforced the City's recent Emergency Order as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Johnson adjourned the Workshop at 2:01 p.m. He further indicated the Regular Meeting will convene at 2:11 p.m.
