Title
32. Approval of a Resolution to Adopt the 2021 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Floodplain Mitigation Plan and the Repetitive Loss Area Analysis
Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

Approval of a resolution to adopt the “2021 City of Savannah, Floodplain Mitigation Plan (FMP)” and “Repetitive Loss Area Analysis (RLAA)”.  FEMA requires the City to vote on a Resolution to accept the revised FMP and RLAA for participation in FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The FMP is a critical element of the Community Rating System (CRS), which is used to establish National Flood Insurance premium rates for City Residents. Currently the City has 6,432 NFIP Flood Insurance policies enforced with a savings of $694,981. The purpose of the FMP is to assess current flood hazard conditions, including historically flooded areas and repetitively flooded properties, and to develop appropriate mitigation strategies to reduce or eliminate future flood losses. The RLAA document is an analysis of site-specific details, such as structure’s finish floor height, exterior a/c units, grades, plus storm water inlets, catch basins and drainage waterways features to reduce flood losses in repetitively flooded areas.
