Title
Motion to Adopt Part 9, Chapter 2, Article D of the Code of Ordinances to Make it Unlawful to Dump or Store Solid Waste and Vegetation
Description

This amendment is intended to address properties, whether vacant or occupied, that contain an excessive accumulation or untended growth of:

  • Weeds and other like growths or grass;
  • Trees that are dangerous, unsafe, or obstructing the light from street lights;

Such conditions allow properties to become infested or inhabited by rodents, vermin or wild animals, or may furnish a breeding place for mosquitoes, or threatens or endangers the public health, safety, or welfare, or may reasonably cause disease, or adversely affects and impairs the economic welfare of adjacent property. It is the intent of the City to invoke the procedures contained in this Ordinance that address properties which constitute an endangerment to the public health or safety as a result of unsanitary or unsafe conditions to those persons residing or working in the vicinity of the property.

First reading of this ordinance amendment was heard by City Council during the meeting of August 31, 2017. This is the second and final reading.
