Title
25. Motion to Procure Two Knuckle Boom Trucks from Environmental Products of Georgia (Event No. 6524)
Strategic Priority
Infrastructure
Description

Recommend approval to procure two knuckle boom trucks from Environmental Products of Georgia in the amount of $371,688.00. Pricing for this truck was obtained using the Sourcewell (formerly the National Joint Powers Alliance) cooperative purchasing agreement, a purchasing cooperative of which the City has been a member since 2009. Cooperative purchasing is authorized as an appropriate procurement method in Division 10, Section 4-4152 of the City of Savannah’s Purchasing Ordinance.

The trucks will be used by the Residential Refuse Division to replace units that have reached the end of their useful lives and are no longer cost effective to maintain. The Residential Refuse Division will use these units to provide weekly curbside pickup of bulk items, large debris removal throughout the City, and for picking up larger trees following an emergency event. Procurement of these trucks will ensure continuity of operations.

This is a sole source because this type of unit is unique to the City’s fleet. Environmental Products of Georgia is the authorized dealer in the State of Georgia under the Sourcewell contract. This vendor’s unit is uniquely compatible with City specifications because the unit has a larger load capacity and is able to pick up larger debris.
