The Human Resources Department offers eligible employees, retirees and family members access to voluntary dental insurance coverage. Description

Recommend approval to award an annual contract for employee dental insurance to Metropolitan Life Insurance Company at no cost to the City of Savannah.

The Human Resources Department offers eligible employees, retirees, and family members access to voluntary dental insurance coverage.  The estimated premium is to be paid 100% by those members who are enrolled in the insurance coverage.  There is no cost to the City of Savannah for this service. 

The City of Savannah will add a third-tier dental plan as requested by Employee/Retiree participation in the benefit’s survey conducted between May-June 2021.  The third-tier or platinum dental plan will provide an annual maximum allowance of $2,000 and add orthodontic coverage of up to $1500 for minors.  The current high plan will increase the annual maximum allowance from $1,000 to $1,500.  

This RFP was facilitated by USI Insurance Services on behalf of the City of Savannah. USI Insurance Services is the City’s employee benefits consultant that negotiates, oversees, and advertises the City’s benefits contracts. This RFP was sent out to eight proposers with three proposers responding.

The proposal was advertised, opened, and reviewed. The contract term expires on December 31, 2022. This contract also includes three available annual renewal options and two extensions. Delivery: As needed. Terms: Net 30 days. The bidders were:
